Volunteer Case Study – Laney

Learning Links is a charity operating in Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight and we support people by helping them get from where they are to where they want to be. One of our volunteers, Laney started volunteering with us back in July 2017 and has been back and forth between our shop in Kingston road, helping organise stock, and our warehouse where she kindly supports us with administration duties. Laney sat down with us and spoke about her experiences with Learning Links and how we have positively impacted her. ‘(Learning Links) increased my confidence and it’s nice to be able to give something back to the community’ – everything we do here at Learning Links is to benefit the community in some way or another, including our shop in Kingston road. Not only do we sell pre-loved furniture, there is a project called ‘Junk2Funk’ where members of the community can come in and decorate our furniture for sale (see here) and as you can see there are some pretty amazing results. This allows our customers to get some work experience, and increase their skills. Have a browse of our website to see more about what Learning Links does to help the community.

‘Learning Links encourages me to go further by encouraging and inspiring me to do courses, I really enjoy it’ said Laney.  Keep checking back on our website to read more case studies from our customers including our new volunteer Gina or like our Facebook page where we provide daily stories about what Learning Links is doing and what upcoming events are happening in the Portsmouth and Isle Of Wight areas. There you can message us about any questions you have about our charity, and if we are able to help you, we will. You can like our Facebook page by clicking here.
