Happy New Year From Learning Links

As Brad Paisley once said ‘Tomorrow is the first blank page of a 365 page book. Write a good one’ – now we are on page three but the story has barely even started. We hope you have a wonderful year filled with love, health, and happiness and we truly hope all your dreams come true.

A fresh start is always a good thing and Learning Links is passionate about helping local people (Portsmouth & Isle Of Wight) get from where they are, to where they want to be. We hope to reach more people this year and provide them with the skills, knowledge and support needed to achieve their potential. Below is a breakdown of what Learning Links has to offer:

Learn: With our trained work programme advisors we are dedicated to helping our customers find the best possible work solution to suit their individual needs. We have people come to us with a variety of different needs/wants and our team is always happy to support the person with what they want to achieve. We also support individuals with the National Careers Service (which is based at Furnish, more information below), and supporting over 50’s in finding work with our Ageing Better programme on the Isle Of Wight.

Health: We support individuals by signposting them to different health professionals and offering an advocacy service to support our customers as best we can. We also engage frequently with the community to see what concerns they have regarding health and social care in the Portsmouth area.

Families: We offer an NVR (non-violence resistance) course in Portsmouth for parents whose children are expressing violent/aggressive/controlling behaviour. The course has received positive feedback from our families and we are proud to be continuing it this year.

Furnish: Learning Links/Furnish is our newest business venture and it is basically collecting and selling domestic furniture from and to members of the public. The furniture we take is second hand but in good condition, and we invite members of the community to come and volunteer to improve the quality of the items ie dusting, cleaning etc.
